“The Chosen” Church Wide Study

We are organizing a Church-Wide study of the television series called “The Chosen”. We know many people have enjoyed seeing this rendition of the life of our Lord. It is important to note that in no way does this television series claim to be the authentic life of Christ (that is only found in Holy Scripture). The creators of the show have expressed this same sentiment and encourage people to let the show entice them to reading the Word of God. We will be watching the first season (8 episodes total) for 8 weeks.

Our plan is to have small groups gather together weekly to watch one episode and follow a discussion guide. The discussion guide has Bible references that will hopefully enrich the experience of watching the show and enrich the discussion around the themes of each episode. Our pastors are working to focus our sermons for these 8 weeks around scenes and themes found within the episodes and ultimately in God’s Word. Come join us for worship and hear our pastors expound on the episodes.

Following each worship service, we will have fellowship time and large group discussion on the episode each small group watched that week. This is a great opportunity for small group leaders to share insights from their groups. The large group study will end at noon each Sunday.

We hope this series can be an introduction to the Gospel for many, and an opportunity for us to meditate on the life our Lord Jesus Christ.
