Taking Every Thought Captive: Unforgiveness
Sheryl Marshall   -

At the heart of our Christian faith is forgiveness. Jesus taught us to invite our heavenly father to forgive us as we have forgiven others. It is almost as if our own forgiveness is dependent on our willingness to forgive as we have been forgiven.

I have noticed two things about the strongholds that Satan sets up in our minds about forgiveness. I have noticed how difficult it is to forgive others and I have noticed how difficult it is to forgive ourselves. When we fail to forgive others or ourselves, it is very much like we get wrapped up in chains and stunted in our spirits.

God has a cure for that, it is found in Jesus. The cure is realizing our new identity in Jesus. To receive this new identity you must first realize the need for it through repentance (this enables us to forgive others because we have been forgiven) and then you must walk in that new identity (this enables us to forgive ourselves).

When we live in our new identity in Jesus, we can forgive others and ourselves.
