I’ll Be Home for Christmas: A Consecrated Home AKA And Simeon Found the Lord’s Christ
Imagine the Lord giving you a promise, that you would see something amazing. You are sure it is real. Despite other people not believing you, it shapes your life. Despite your own doubts at times, that promise means every choice you make is influenced by that promise.
God promised a man named Simeon that he would see the Christ before he died. In our text for this Sunday, we have the circumcision of Jesus and the purification sacrifice for Mary. They were presented to the Priests at the Temple where Simeon waited. We don’t know how long he waited before that day or what he expected to see when he would see the Christ but when Jesus came, he received all the comfort he could have ever wanted. He even says he is ready to die. His life was full.
29 “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace,
according to your word;
30 for my eyes have seen your salvation
31 that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to your people Israel.” Luke 2:29-32
That same comfort is ours through Jesus, that same child Simeon was excited to hold. Listen in as we celebrate what Christmas means for us who believe the promises of God.
