The Chosen Ep 3: Let the Children
Kyle Johnson   -
We are in our third week of this series, and we have had great feedback from our small groups. The third episode is very different from all the others in that the Gospels never talk of Jesus being visited by small children at a camp. The events of this episode are fictitious, but we do know that children were brought to Jesus. We know that He said things like, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of Heaven.” Matt 19:14 To children belongs the Kingdom of Heaven. To such who are still learning, trusting, needing help, careful at times but making mistakes, who get frustrated when things don’t go their way, who dream of the future, who take incredible joy in the simple, and love with abandon belongs the Kingdom of Heaven. I think that is why the creators of the Chosen made this episode. It is less about children and more about us who belong to the Kingdom of Heaven. It has less to do with Jesus’ interactions with the kids and more to do with what He calls His disciples to be. That message is true for, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” Matt 18:3
